DAY 1: USA - ISTANBUL
Overnight transatlantic flight to Istanbul with meals on
board.
DAY 2: ISTANBUL
Upon arrival at Istanbul's airport you will be met by our
representative and escorted to your hotel. The balance of
the day is at leisure to relax or stroll around in this
fascinating city.
DAY 3: ISTANBUL (B, L)
Set on two continents this ancient
city combines its cultures well. A
tour of the city takes you to St.
Sophia, the 6th century Byzantine Basilica famous for being
the
largest church of its era, the Byzantine
Hippodrome now an open exhibition
park with a number of monuments, the
17th century Imperial “
Blue Mosque” famous for its
six minarets and more. After lunch
the tour takes you to the Topkapi
Palace, residence of the Ottoman Sultans
now a world famous museum, the 16th
century Suleimaniye Mosque and the Grand
Bazaar, world’s largest covered market with more
than 4,000 shops and a multitude of alleys.

4: ISTANBUL (B)

DAY 5: ISTANBUL (B)
Day at leisure.
DAY 6: ISTANBUL-ANKARA - CAPPADOCIA
(B,L,D)
Following breakfast, check out from
the hotel and transfer to the airport
for a domestic flight to Ankara. Meet
at Ankara Esenboga Airport and proceed
with visits in Ankara -the capital
city of Turkey, including the Museum
of Anatolian Civilizations, where
archaeological pieces dating as far
back as the prehistoric age are exhibited;
the Mausoleum of Ataturk, where the
founder of the Turkish Republic lies;
and finally a visit to the Ancient
Citadel. After lunch in Ankara depart
for Cappadocia.
DAY 7: CAPPADOCIA (B,L,D)
After breakfast a visit to the natural citadel
of Uchisar, for a panoramic view of
the region; then an extensive
visit to
the Göreme Open Air Museum, with
its 10th century churches cut out of soft rock with beautiful interior
frescoes, then brief visits to Cavusin;
Pasabag Valley, and finally Avanos
Village, famous for its pottery and
handicrafts. Some time for carpet
show and shopping pottery and handicrafts.
DAY 8: CAPPADOCIA - ANKARA (B,L)
After breakfast, visit the Subterrenean City
of Kaymakli or Derinkuyu, established
in the 7th century by Christians fleeing
persecution, in which a visitor is
able to descend several floor levels.
Depart for Ankara. Lunch enroute.
DAY 9: ANKARA - ISTANBUL - USA (B)
After breakfast you will be transferred
to the airport for the flight to Istanbul, connecting
to your return flight home.
